RE-Happy Birthday Nick

We just had to throw Nick a "Re-Happy Birthday Party" when he was feeling better. So the next Saturday we went to Chuck E. Cheeses and made up for all the fun he missed! He was talking about it days after to anyone who would listen!

Here are some of the hi-lights!

I could barely get Nick to slow down long enough to take a picture!

He was a little beserk with all the attention, games, lights, sounds,
etc. I couldn't tell if he was scared of Chuck or just irritated that
he was diverting attention away from him for a moment. :o)

For 2 and a half days I secretly made this cake. I worked on it during nap times, when
Adam would take him outside to play and when my mom took him to spend the night.
I was so glad that I finished by Saturday and it was totally worth it to see the look on
his face when they brought it out!

Opening presents, always a hit! Nick's favorite presents were his "Talk to
My Agent" T-Shirt and new b-ball mitt from dad!

All of Nick's guests signed a "Chicks Dig Me" T-Shirt for him
and it quickly became his new favorite shirt!

I was so glad that we had a do-over party for him. My mom always made sure that we had memorable birthdays and I want to do the same for my kids. By the way, "THANKS MOM" for all the parties over the years! I get how hard it was for you and I appreciate you more then ever!

UNHappy 3rd Birthday Nick!

Tuesday, June 3rd was Nicholas' 3rd birthday! Adam woke him up before leaving for work to wish him a happy birthday and then he climbed into bed with me. I noticed right away that he was burning hot and took his temperature... it was 104.2'!! I called for my grandma to come get Jake who just woke up and before she could even make it upstairs Nick was throwing up like he was going for some sort of vomit record! I got him into the tub to soak and he started complaining that his ear hurt... a lot. I had to wait until 9 am to call the doctor so I just did my best to keep him comfortable. I was so worried about him!
The doctor confirmed that he had a full blown ear infection and there was actually dried blood in his ear canal :o( Several nurses wished him Happy Birthday and each time he'd quickly bite back, "NO! I don't want it!". We had talked about his birthday for weeks so I'm sure at that point he was feeling pretty betrayed that we told him how much fun this "birthday" thing would be! I cancelled the big family party but we still sang happy birthday and let him open some presents. He never touched his slice of cake but graced us with a smile when he opened his Spiderman T-Shirt from Great Gramma Jones!

Yes, those are tea lights! I totally forgot the
b-day candles with the commotion of that day, lol.

Good Season Team Grainger!

A little known fact about Adam is that he is quite the athlete! He's always involved in Church or City leagues of some sort or another.
Most recently he joined some friends on the Kent City Dodgeball League. They did great all season and into the finals. When all was ducked and dodged, Team Grainger came out in 2nd place! I'm an avid heckler so I really enjoyed taking the kids to the game and throwing the other team some crap while cheering on Grainger.
The picture is a little blurry, but Adam is the one "mid-throw" which in this particular game was the winning tag out! Go Adam!
