Another fun family tradition that we started was Halloween Breakfast! I remember when I was growing up my mom always made Spaghetti, garlic bread and a salad for dinner before we went trick or treating. I try to be conscious about the foods that my kids eat year round and Halloween candy frightens me! But it's a right of passage that I wouldn't deny my kids so I try extra hard on Halloween day to make fun but healthy meals. This year we had pumpkin pancakes, ghost toast, monster slime eggs and the BOO is yogurt. The boys loved it! (So did Adam)!

Nicholas originally wanted to be Sonic the Hedgehog this year. These costumes can only be found on Ebay with bids well over $150 taking the cake. Sigh. I decided that I could make him the costume so I went to JoAnnes and got started. Halfway through the costume the presser foot on my sewing machine went missing. I couldn't find a replacement anywhere. So I resigned myself to a half home made costume and went in search of a blue sweat outfit at K-Mart instead. Well wouldn't you know it, there was a half off $12 dollar power ranger costume just hanging there on the wall and Nick forgot all about Sonic! I was totally frustrated at this point, we had taken him to the costume store multiple times trying to convince him to be something else. Truthfully, I was relieved. It was a week before Halloween and he had a complete costume!

Jake got to dress up 3 times this year, he loved it all. He was a dragon to Nick's school's fall festival, a pirate to the church's trunk or treat and a army man for trick or treating. He had so much more fun this year, as they usually do when they figure out what it's all about!

We went trick or treating with my Cousin Justin's girls, Senneca and Tatum. They have cute little pet names for their girls, Sene-bun and Tater-Tot. So Corrie, Justin's wife did an amazing job whipping up these adorable costumes for their girls! Not a great picture, but just darling in person!

Here's a close up of Seneca the CinnaBon!

Look at that whacked-out candy high smile! We weighed the boys candy at the end of the night, 7 lbs!!!!!!! I'm proud to announce that I did talk sense into Nicholas with the whole cavity bit and likely tummy aches but Jake on the other hand was undeterred. That's my boys! Luckily, mommy and daddy bailed them out and saved them from all the hassles of eating all that candy by themselves! It was a great night and a great memory in the bank!
